The Glentrool Kindness Path

Back in 2019, after much fundraising, a path was constructed from Glentrool Village to the House o’ Hill Hotel. The idea being that it would make it safer to walk the mile between the village, caravan site and pub. This was a very welcome addition to Glentrool, but now it has evolved into so much more than just a path. This is the story of Glentrool Kindness Path.

A couple of months after the path was finished, two ladies, who both live in Glentrool Village, were in the seaside town of Girvan and spotted an area full of painted stones. They thought that this was so lovely and that's where the idea for the Kindness Path was born.

They started to paint stones and place them along the path. The stones were painted with uplifting quotes, pictures, cartoons, jokes, all sorts of positive things.

They started up a Facebook page for the path and encouraged others to paint  stones too.

Friends, family and soon visitors were all adding their stones to the path. There were well over 100 stones by this time.

Since then the path has continued to grow and evolve. There is now an Alphabet Trail where you can look for all the letters of the alphabet, depicted with pictures. It has brought visitors from far and wide. Activity sheets for this can be found at the Glentrool Hive.

The path is a little over a mile long and runs from just outside Glentrool Village, alongside the road, before crossing over and carrying on, past Glentrool Camping and Caravan Park and on to The House o’ Hill Hotel.

So if you're ever in Glentrool, make sure to take a wander along Glentrool Kindness Path, take a look at all our lovely painted stones, and maybe even leave a stone of your own.

At the Glentrool Hive, you can decorate your own stone to leave on the path, or buy your own ladybird decorated stone to take home with you.
