  • Newton Stewart Museum

    Discover a collection of over 10,000 items, nearly all of which have been donated by local people. Outside are larger items, many connected with farming. The largest indoor space where rows of pews would have sat in front of a pulpit, organ and communion table is now divided into different sections – nursery, tools, kitchen, blacksmith and many more. There is also a small museum shop.

    One of the astonishing things about crystals is the diversity of colour which is well represented by the thousands of cut gemstones on display, many of which are rare varieties.

  • The Whithorn Trust

    Open from April to October 31st, Sunday to Friday, 10.30 am to 4pm; we close slightly earlier in April at 3.30pm. Summer hours may be extended.

    Your visit includes our chronological story of the development of Whithorn, the upper Gallery “Whithorn Cold Case” exhibition and our Audio Visual presentations, as well as our upcoming exhibit on the recent Iron Age dig; the ticket also includes access to the Iron Age roundhouse reconstruction via guided tour, and the Historic Scotland Museum of early mediaeval carved stones. The crypts are now reopened to the public. All tickets are valid for one year.

  • Port Logan Fishpond

    Port Logan Fishpond is a unique visitor attraction which is home to a wide range of sea fish and marine life including rays, cod, pollock, turbot, mullet, starfish, hermit crabs and more! The Fishpond is created from a natural feature of the rocky coastline and was originally used as a sea fish larder for the Laird of Logan. It is the oldest and most unique natural marine 'aquarium' in the UK.
